Happy New Year!
I hope that each of you have had a joyful, peaceful holiday season – a time to enjoy and celebrate with your family, friends and loved ones. I am looking forward to 2017.
With your continued support we will keep the little ones in our community safe and see that parents have support to get through difficult times.
Throughout the Christmas season many little ones enjoyed the food, clothing and holiday gifts prepared in Santa’s workshop, as their parents with grateful hearts watched.
Each family, according to their cultural traditions used these items during the holiday season to celebrate. For each family it was a time out from the difficulties in their daily life that had brought them to the Bay Area Crisis Nursery during the past year.
They came to us looking for a safe place for their children – they found not only a safe place for their children but also support for their efforts to get through difficult times.
I am so grateful for each of you — who year after year make this possible. Because of your generosity, during the holidays, our little ones went to bed with full tummies and hearts overflowing with happiness.
Experiencing a severe financial crisis at the end of 2013, our Board of Directors, worked with me to correct this situation during 2014. We succeeded!
However during the past two years we have not been able to balance the budget – to break even. Although, we are not starting the year out of money, we only have about four months operating cash in the bank. For security, we would like to have six to eight months; however, we have some time to look at options, to fundraise, to plan and be ready to make intelligent decisions as the year progresses.
What we do have going for us is a great Board of Directors! We are an eight member Board. Every Board Member is actively working to produce financial stability for BACN. Every Board Member is sharing their time, talents and personal resources to assure that the mission of the Bay Area Crisis Nursery is accomplished.
This team is making sure that the children of our community will always have a safe place to stay when their families are experiencing difficult times.
Invest In the Children
How can you help? You can continue your donations to BACN. You can join our HUG program and make a monthly recurring donation.
Hopefully you can increase your donation this year. If this is not possible you could share the story of BACN with a friend or relative that might become a donor.
You might know someone that has a family foundation that could help. As a member of a church community or an organization you could arrange to have me speak about the Nursery and our mission, thereby spreading the word to more people in the community. Increasing community awareness helps clients learn about the services and expands the donor base for the Nursery.
On behalf of the families we have served and the children that have stayed with us, I want to thank you for your support. Your generosity has really made a difference in the lives of many little ones throughout the Bay Area — Thank you!
